Accessibility Statement

Effective date: January 1, 2026 — Last reviewed: February 7, 2026

StockTi is operated with the belief that financial information should be available to everyone, regardless of ability or disability. This accessibility statement outlines the measures we take to ensure our platform is usable by the widest possible audience, including individuals who rely on assistive technologies.

Conformance Status

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines define how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, covering a broad spectrum of conditions including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, limited movement, speech difficulties, photosensitivity, and combinations of these.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is referenced by legislation in multiple jurisdictions, including the European Accessibility Act (EAA), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). While StockTi is not required to comply with all of these, we use them as our benchmark for quality.

Accessibility Features

Structure and Navigation

  • Every page uses semantic HTML5 landmarks (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>) so assistive technologies can identify page regions.
  • Headings follow a logical hierarchy (H1 through H4) and are never skipped, allowing screen-reader users to scan page structure quickly.
  • All internal links use descriptive anchor text rather than generic phrases such as "click here."
  • Breadcrumb navigation is provided on article and stock pages to clarify the user's position within the site.
  • A consistent navigation bar appears on every page, and its order does not change between sections.

Keyboard Accessibility

  • Every interactive element — links, buttons, form fields, tabs, and modal dialogs — is reachable and operable using the keyboard alone (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Escape).
  • Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements so keyboard users can track their position on the page.
  • No keyboard trap exists: users can always move focus away from any component using standard keystrokes.
  • Modal overlays can be closed with the Escape key.

Visual Design and Color

  • Text in the main body meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background, and large text (18px+ bold or 24px+ regular) meets at least 3:1, per WCAG 1.4.3.
  • Positive and negative stock movements are indicated by directional symbols (+ / −) in addition to green and red coloring, ensuring the information is not conveyed by color alone (WCAG 1.4.1).
  • Interactive elements such as buttons and links have a visible boundary or underline state, not just a color change, to distinguish them from surrounding text.
  • The site is tested at 200% browser zoom without loss of content or functionality (WCAG 1.4.4).

Financial Data Presentation

  • Stock prices, percentage changes, and volumes are rendered in monospace typeface (JetBrains Mono) for consistent decimal alignment, improving readability for users with dyslexia or low vision.
  • Numerical data uses locale-appropriate formatting: thousands separators, two decimal places for prices, and abbreviated units (K, M, B, T) for large numbers.
  • Data tables in the watchlist and statistics sections include proper <th> headers with scope attributes so screen readers can associate cells with their column headings.
  • Chart visualizations are supplemented by the underlying data displayed in adjacent statistics grids, ensuring the same information is available in text form.

Images and Media

  • Article images include alt attributes. Decorative images use empty alt text (alt="") so screen readers skip them.
  • No auto-playing audio or video content exists on the site.
  • No content relies solely on sensory characteristics (shape, size, visual location, orientation, or sound) to convey meaning.

Forms and Interactive Components

  • All form inputs (search bar, contact form, watchlist symbol input) have associated <label> elements or aria-label attributes.
  • Form validation errors are communicated in text adjacent to the relevant field, not solely through color changes.
  • The search autocomplete dropdown is keyboard-navigable with arrow keys and announces results to screen readers through ARIA live regions.

Motion and Animation

  • The scrolling ticker bar pauses on hover, allowing users time to read its content.
  • Users who enable the prefers-reduced-motion operating-system setting will experience reduced or removed animations where technically feasible.
  • No content flashes more than three times per second (WCAG 2.3.1).

Assistive Technology Compatibility

StockTi is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Voice control: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control (macOS/iOS)
  • Magnification: ZoomText, system-level zoom (all platforms)
  • Switch devices and alternative input: Standard keyboard-only navigation support

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, the following areas have known accessibility limitations that we are actively working to resolve:

  • Live ticker bar: The continuously scrolling ticker may not announce updates in real time to all screen readers. We are investigating the use of ARIA live regions for a text-only alternative.
  • Canvas-based charts: Stock price charts are rendered on HTML Canvas elements, which have inherently limited screen reader support. The same price data is always available in the adjacent statistics grid as a textual alternative.
  • Third-party fonts: Web fonts loaded from Google Fonts may introduce a brief flash of unstyled text. System font fallbacks are defined to minimize impact.

Testing Methodology

Our accessibility evaluation includes:

  • Automated scanning with axe-core and Lighthouse accessibility audits
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing across all page types
  • Screen reader testing with VoiceOver (Safari) and NVDA (Chrome)
  • Color contrast verification using the WebAIM Contrast Checker
  • Responsive testing at standard breakpoints and at 200% zoom

Feedback and Contact

We take accessibility seriously and welcome your input. If you encounter a barrier on any page of StockTi, or if you have a suggestion for improvement, please let us know:

  • Contact form: stockti.com/contact
  • Response time: We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to provide a resolution or timeline within 10 business days.

When reporting an issue, it is helpful to include: the page URL, the device and browser you were using, the assistive technology (if any), and a description of the problem you encountered.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is not a one-time effort. We review our platform regularly and incorporate accessibility checks into our development process for new features. This statement will be updated as we make improvements or as standards evolve.
