Shares of Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ: MSTR) surged 7.81% on Thursday, closing at $112.39, as a sharp rebound in Bitcoin prices helped narrow the company's unrealized loss on its digital asset holdings by approximately $7.7 billion. The move outpaced Bitcoin's own 4.97% daily gain, underscoring the stock's sensitivity to cryptocurrency market movements.

The rally came after last week's common stock offerings, which raised net proceeds of $333.7 million at an average price of $96.48 per share. Thursday's closing price sits 16.5% above that implied issuance level, improving the financial rationale for raising additional equity to fund further Bitcoin acquisitions.

At 18:50 EDT, Bitcoin was trading at $72,707.63, according to market data. This price values Strategy's 840,447 BTC holdings at approximately $61.11 billion, compared to a cumulative acquisition cost of $63.36 billion. The gap between market value and cost narrowed to $2.25 billion, down from $9.99 billion as of the company's Monday update, when Bitcoin was near $63,500.

The improvement occurred without any changes to the company's Bitcoin balance, reflecting the market's rapid repricing. The move also highlighted the effectiveness of Strategy's capital-raising strategy, which has been a focal point for investors evaluating the company's treasury operations.

However, the latest financing round did not include any Bitcoin purchases. Instead, Strategy allocated the proceeds to strengthen its cash position and manage its capital structure. Of the $333.7 million raised, $149.1 million (44.7%) was added to USD holdings, $132.2 million (39.6%) was used to redeem STRC preferred shares, and $52.4 million (15.7%) funded dividend payments on preferred stock. No funds were directed toward Bitcoin acquisitions during this period.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor commented, "Strategy added $150M to its USD Reserve and repurchased $132M of STRC." The company's cash reserve now stands at $4.80 billion, including unsettled ATM proceeds, which will support preferred dividends and debt interest obligations.

CEO Phong Le reiterated the company's commitment to expanding its Bitcoin holdings, stating, "We'll get back to buying more Bitcoin throughout the course of the year." The timing will depend on capital market conditions, he added.

Market sentiment improved broadly on Thursday, with Bitcoin surpassing $70,000 as U.S. lawmakers made progress on cryptocurrency-related legislation and Treasury yields declined. Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN) rose 6.05%, while Canaan Inc. (NASDAQ: CAN) jumped 10.37%. Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) gained 3.8%, and Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) added 0.42%.

Analyst consensus remains bullish, with a price target of $242.81, implying 116% upside from Thursday's close. However, targets range from $54 to $473, reflecting significant uncertainty around Bitcoin's trajectory, potential dilution from future equity sales, and the cost of preferred capital.

The immediate outlook hinges on whether MSTR can sustain trading levels above recent issuance prices. If it does, each new share will provide greater purchasing power for Bitcoin acquisitions. Conversely, any decline would erode that advantage. Risks include a sudden Bitcoin reversal, ongoing shareholder dilution, and potential regulatory changes that could affect the cryptocurrency market.
