Shares of Global Mofy AI Limited (NASDAQ: GMM) experienced a significant surge on Monday, climbing 57.8% to $4.04 by 2:50 p.m. EDT. The rally was accompanied by exceptionally high trading volume, with 23.7 million shares changing hands. This volume represents approximately 13.3 times the company's post-split Class A share count of roughly 1.79 million, indicating a massive turnover in the stock.
The surge comes on the heels of a 1-for-50 reverse stock split, detailed in a June 11 SEC filing. The split was implemented to meet Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement, a common strategy for companies facing delisting risk. Despite the recent gains, the stock remains 11.6% below its July 10 close of $4.57, following a volatile period that included a 147% surge and a subsequent 44% decline.
Global Mofy has undergone rapid changes in its capital structure. On May 26, the company completed a registered offering that raised $8 million, involving the sale of 8.25 million pre-split shares along with an equal number of Series A and Series B warrants. The May prospectus estimated that the offering would result in 54.09 million Class A shares outstanding, assuming no warrant exercises. However, a June filing revealed approximately 89.58 million shares before the reverse split, a 66% increase from the earlier estimate.
Fundamentally, the company's financial performance presents a mixed picture. Revenue for fiscal 2025 increased by 35.3% to $55.9 million, but Global Mofy also reported a net loss of $19.3 million. The most recent operational update came on June 8, when Chief Technology Officer Wenjun Jiang announced the creation of two AI-generated micro-dramas within ByteDance's content ecosystem. Jiang highlighted the commercial potential of AI-powered production workflows, though no financial terms were disclosed.
Several risks remain for investors. Resettable warrants could further dilute the share count, and Nasdaq compliance issues continue to pose challenges. The company has cautioned that stock price increases may not reflect underlying business performance.
Given the lack of new operational disclosures, Monday's trading activity serves as the most significant indicator for investors. The heavy volume relative to the limited float suggests that structural factors, rather than fundamental developments, are driving the price action. Market participants should remain cautious as the stock continues to exhibit high volatility.
