Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) closed Friday at $371.04, up 1.45%, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains. The stock now sits just 0.78% below its all-time high from July, with a decisive move above $373.97 setting up a fresh record. The rally added nearly $10 billion to the company's market value, though trading volume of 6.68 million shares came in about 7% below its recent average, suggesting a steady but not exuberant advance.

Beneath the share price movement, the more compelling story is the accelerating growth in Visa's value-added services segment. In the fiscal third quarter ended June 30, 2026, value-added services revenue climbed 33% year-over-year to $3.8 billion, now representing roughly one-third of Visa's net revenue. This growth rate more than doubled the company's overall net revenue increase of 14%, which reached $11.63 billion for the quarter.

The shift in revenue mix is crucial for investors, as Visa trades at a premium earnings multiple of 31.6 times. While core payment processing remains robust—processed transactions grew 10% to 71.66 billion—the faster expansion of services provides an additional growth engine beyond transaction tolls. This diversification supports the stock's valuation, which aligns closely with rival Mastercard Inc. (NYSE: MA), also trading near 32 times earnings. In contrast, American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP) commands a lower multiple of 20.4 times, reflecting its exposure to lending risk.

However, the services growth comes with higher costs. GAAP operating expenses rose 19% to $4.76 billion, outpacing revenue growth by five percentage points. Consequently, GAAP net income increased just 7% to $5.63 billion, while adjusted earnings per share grew 11% to $3.32. This cost pressure makes execution a key factor in sustaining the premium valuation.

Visa's strategic commitment to value-added services is further underscored by its proposed $2.4 billion acquisition of BioCatch, a behavioral and device intelligence firm that helps financial institutions detect scams before transactions complete. The deal, which represents about 0.35% of Visa's current market capitalization, would extend Visa's fraud-prevention capabilities. Andrew Torre, president of value-added services at Visa, said BioCatch would 'help our clients stop fraud before it reaches the point of payment.' BioCatch currently protects 760 million users at 350 banks.

Wall Street sentiment remains overwhelmingly bullish. Of the 28 analysts covering Visa, 26 rate it a Buy, with only two Holds and no Sells. The consensus price target stands at $422.25, implying a potential upside of 13.8% from Friday's close. The lowest target, $350, would represent a 5.7% decline. Recent analyst actions include Bernstein's Harshita Rawat raising the target to $450, while Evercore ISI's Adam Frisch maintains a Hold with a $350 target.

On Friday, two Form 144 filings disclosed planned sales by company officers totaling approximately $8.8 million, a negligible 0.001% of Visa's market capitalization and not material to the investment thesis. No earnings reports are scheduled for the coming week, but investors should monitor payment sector peers, consumer spending data, and regulatory developments surrounding the BioCatch acquisition.

Risks to the outlook include weaker consumer spending, reduced cross-border travel, regulatory intervention on fees, and potential integration costs from BioCatch before it contributes to revenue. A sustained breakout above $373.97 would signal a new all-time high, but the market's focus will likely remain on Visa's ability to balance growth with cost discipline.
