Ather Energy Hits Record High, Surges Past Hero MotoCorp Deal Price

Shares of Ather Energy (NSE:ATHERENERG) surged to an all-time high on Tuesday, closing at ₹1,725.60 after touching ₹1,744 intraday. The stock now trades 16.6% above the price Hero MotoCorp paid in a recent block deal, signaling strong market confidence in the electric scooter maker's growth trajectory.

Hero MotoCorp acquired 11.88 million Ather shares at ₹1,479.80 apiece, a transaction worth approximately ₹1,758 crore. This secondary sale increased Hero's fully diluted stake to about 32.8% from 29.88%. The premium over this price reflects market optimism about Ather's operational turnaround and future prospects.

Impressive Q1 Performance

Ather reported a strong first quarter for fiscal 2027, with total income jumping 87.2% year-over-year to ₹1,260 crore. Vehicle sales rose 80.5% to 83,173 units, while EBITDA turned positive at ₹9 crore, a significant improvement from a ₹106 crore loss in the same period last year. Net loss narrowed to ₹51 crore from ₹178 crore.

The company's CEO, Tarun Mehta, noted that demand is far outstripping supply, with pre-orders surging 158% to 150,000 units. This demand-supply gap presents both growth opportunities and operational challenges as Ather ramps up production.

New Product Launch

Ather unveiled the Konarc scooter, priced starting at ₹99,999, with a range of up to 200 kilometers. This more affordable model is expected to broaden Ather's customer base and drive further volume growth. The company also highlighted that software, charging, and other non-vehicle revenue streams now account for 14% of operations, with the AtherStack Pro attach rate holding steady at 94%.

Market Reaction and Analyst Views

The stock has gained nearly 130% in 2026, according to Bloomberg data. Emkay analyst Chirag Jain suggested the stock could potentially double within three to four years, contingent on Ather continuing to expand market share as production scales.

However, the elevated valuation leaves little room for setbacks. Ather continues to post net losses, and commodity prices remain high. Any downturn could quickly erode the premium over Hero's acquisition price.

Key Milestones Ahead

Investors are watching two critical upcoming events: the phased deliveries of the Konarc scooter, slated to begin in September, and the launch of the initial phase of Ather's Auric facility, targeting 500,000 units, planned for the third quarter of fiscal 2027. These milestones will be crucial in determining whether Ather can sustain its momentum and justify its valuation.
