BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE:BMNR) saw its shares climb 9% over the past week, closing Friday at $18.82. However, the company's share repurchase program remains a minor factor compared to its substantial Ethereum holdings, which continue to dominate the investment thesis.

U.S. markets were closed on Friday, but BitMine's stock still managed a weekly gain of 8.9%. The rise comes amid continued volatility in digital asset markets, with ether prices swinging significantly. The company's balance sheet is heavily weighted toward Ethereum, making its stock price highly sensitive to changes in the token's value.

According to calculations, a mere $52 move in ether's price alters BitMine's gross Ethereum value by approximately $303 million—equivalent to the Friday value of its latest share buybacks. More broadly, each $100 change in ether adjusts the total ETH value by roughly $580 million, which translates to $0.96 per share based on the July 9 share count of 603.2 million. That represents 5.1% of Friday's closing price.

The company's $4 billion share repurchase authorization remains substantial, but as of Friday, only $303 million worth of shares had been bought back—just 7.6% of the total authorization. Disclosed cash and marketable securities stood at $173 million, a mere 4.3% of the authorization. This highlights that the buyback program represents potential capacity rather than a firm commitment to deploy capital aggressively.

BitMine continued to outperform several digital-asset treasury peers last week. While BitMine rose 8.9%, SharpLink (NASDAQ:SBET) gained 5.1%, and Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:MSTR) increased 7.2%. The contrast is even more pronounced when comparing BitMine's latest weekly report: the number of ETH units increased by only 0.18%, but total disclosed assets dropped 4.2% due to price declines, and cash plus securities fell by $95 million to $173 million.

The company's treasury metrics show that between July 26 and August 2, the ETH balance rose by 10,399 to 5,797,813, but the reference price fell 3.5% to $1,880. Total reported assets declined to $11.3 billion, and estimated annual staking income slipped to $247 million. These figures underscore how price fluctuations can easily outweigh new token acquisitions.

Chairman Tom Lee reiterated that management considers the shares "attractively valued," even as the company bought back 4.5 million common shares during the week. However, the actual purchase price was not disclosed, and the Friday values are provisional estimates. The buyback activity remains modest relative to the company's crypto exposure.

BitMine's staked ETH totals 4.917 million, representing 85% of its assets, and the $247 million in annualized staking income is an estimate. The preferred stock (NYSE:BMNP) carries a stated value of $350 million and has priority over common equity in liquidation, adding another layer of complexity for common shareholders.

Analysts remain cautiously optimistic, though coverage is thin. B. Riley's Fedor Shabalin reiterated a Buy rating with a $25 target (down from $33), implying 32.8% upside. Cantor Fitzgerald's Brett Knoblauch initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and a $39 target in January. The three-analyst consensus is Buy with an average target of $31.87, suggesting 69.3% upside from Friday's close.

Investors will watch next week's treasury update for repurchase amounts, share counts, and staked ETH figures. Key risks include simultaneous declines in ETH values and staking returns, potential illiquidity of staked ETH during high withdrawal periods, and the active ATM program allowing up to $24.5 billion in common stock sales, which could cause significant dilution.
