Infleqtion (NYSE: INFQ) saw its shares climb 5.9% in Friday afternoon trading, reaching $12.90, after the quantum-technology firm reported record quarterly revenue and raised its full-year outlook. The stock traded between $12.21 and $13.18 during the session, with the latest price near the upper end of that range.
The Louisville, Colorado-based company posted second-quarter revenue of $12.633 million, a 116% surge from $5.837 million in the same period last year. This beat the consensus estimate of $10.21 million by 23.7%, according to Google Finance. The growth was largely fueled by milestone payments from the NASA Quantum Gravity Gradiometer project.
Despite the revenue jump, gross margin contracted to 11.0% from 17.4% a year earlier, while gross profit rose 36.6% to $1.389 million. The company's operating loss widened significantly, with GAAP operating loss reaching $30.636 million, up 204% from $10.073 million. Net loss also expanded, rising 188% to $25.473 million.
Chief Executive Matt Kinsella commented, "The quantum market is entering an execution phase," emphasizing that all revenue was organic and derived from quantum business. The company now projects 2026 revenue of approximately $43 million, a 7.5% increase from its prior minimum guidance of $40 million.
However, the market's enthusiasm has pushed Infleqtion's valuation to demanding levels. The company's market capitalization of $2.90 billion is roughly 67.4 times its updated revenue forecast, underscoring the high premium investors are paying for growth. This multiple leaves little room for execution missteps.
Infleqtion's balance sheet remains a bright spot. The company reported $582 million in cash, restricted cash and securities, with zero debt. This includes a temporary payroll-tax benefit of $27.4 million, which is expected to reverse in the third quarter. Operating cash flow was positive at $13.2 million, but management noted that excluding the tax timing benefit, cash burn was close to $14 million.
The company is targeting 30 logical qubits in 2026 and plans to establish a system in Illinois by 2027. A proposed Commerce Department funding package could provide up to $100 million, though it is subject to final agreements and government authorization.
Wall Street remains optimistic, with four analysts issuing Buy ratings and no Holds or Sells, according to Google Finance. The average price target of $20.75 implies a potential upside of 60.9% from current levels. However, the stock's high valuation increases the stakes for converting revenue growth into profitability.
Quantum stocks broadly advanced on Friday, with Infleqtion outperforming IonQ, D-Wave, and Rigetti, but lagging Xanadu Quantum Technologies. The sector's positive move suggests some industry-wide momentum, though Infleqtion's earnings were the key catalyst for its shares.
Investors will be watching closely whether Infleqtion can translate its record revenue into improving gross margins and a path to profitability, as the current valuation leaves little tolerance for delays.
