IREN Limited (NASDAQ:IREN) experienced a significant surge on Friday, adding approximately $1.22 billion in market capitalization following the completion of its acquisition of Mirantis. The stock closed at $41.23, up 8.7%, and continued to climb in premarket trading on Monday, indicating a further 2.35% gain to $42.20. This rally underscores the market's positive reception to the strategic move.

The equity value increase is calculated based on a $3.30 per-share rise applied to an estimated 370.85 million shares outstanding. This share count includes IREN's base as of April 30, along with issuances related to Nostrum and Mirantis. The preliminary estimate does not account for subsequent adjustments, but it highlights the scale of the market's response. The value added on Friday was nearly double the $625 million deal value for Mirantis, which also included approximately $40 million in cash and restricted stock units.

The surge in IREN's stock comes amid a broader rally in AI infrastructure plays. Over the past week, CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) rose 26.3%, while Nebius Group (NASDAQ:NBIS) slipped 1.3%, and mining-related companies like Core Scientific (NASDAQ:CORZ) and Cipher Digital (NASDAQ:CIFR) saw mixed performance. This divergence suggests that while Mirantis is a positive catalyst, sector-wide enthusiasm for AI infrastructure is also driving gains.

Mirantis brings workload orchestration, monitoring, and customer-support software to IREN's owned infrastructure, enabling a more integrated platform approach. Co-CEO Daniel Roberts emphasized that this integration "turns infrastructure into a platform," leveraging Mirantis's experience serving over 1,500 enterprise clients. The deal is expected to enhance IREN's AI cloud offerings and strengthen its competitive position.

The completion of the acquisition also introduces potential supply overhang. Up to 11.98 million shares may be resold by former Mirantis shareholders, representing about 94.8% of the shares issued at closing. At Friday's close, this block was valued at approximately $494 million. While the registration does not guarantee sales, it could create near-term selling pressure.

IREN's valuation metrics are notable. Based on Friday's closing price, the company's equity value stood at $15.29 billion, which is less than 3.9 times its targeted year-end AI Cloud annual recurring revenue (ARR) of over $4 billion. This ratio reflects initial projections rather than traditional revenue multiples, as ARR is calculated based on commissioned GPU pricing. Contract provisions, including customer prepayments covering about 45% of GPU capital expenses, mitigate some funding requirements.

The company's transition toward AI cloud services is still in its early stages. In the March quarter, AI Cloud revenue surged 833% year-over-year to $33.6 million, but it accounted for only 23.2% of total revenue. Bitcoin mining remained the dominant segment, generating $111.2 million. The shift has been costly, with a $140.4 million asset impairment and a net loss of $247.8 million for the quarter. These results establish a baseline for future performance under the new contracts.

Analysts remain largely optimistic about IREN's prospects. The consensus rating is Overweight, with a mean price target of $84.64, implying a 105% upside from Friday's close. Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani reiterated a Buy rating with a $100 target on July 30, noting that semiconductor makers are increasingly supporting neocloud leasing. However, price targets range widely from $46 to $131, reflecting uncertainty.

Looking ahead, IREN's short-term trading will likely be influenced by integration progress, resale activity, and peer pricing. The premarket gain on Monday suggests continued buying interest. With elevated risks, investors will closely monitor the company's execution in the rapidly evolving AI infrastructure market.
