Shares of MicroAlgo Inc. The Shenzhen-based company, which trades on the Nasdaq, introduced a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm that aims to streamline the creation of gate-level instructions essential for running software on quantum computers. According to the company, the tool can generate and evaluate quantum circuits without requiring pre-set specifications, simultaneously optimizing for accuracy, circuit width, depth, and gate count.

MicroAlgo reported testing its algorithm on standard benchmark problems, including the Quantum Fourier Transform and Grover's Search Algorithm. The company stated that the algorithm was able to reproduce known textbook circuit designs as well as discover alternative configurations that perform the same computational tasks. Previous releases have included a Boolean-function quantum query framework, a quantum blockchain architecture, and Quantum Architecture Search, an optimization method for circuit structures. This flurry of activity positions the company within a rapidly evolving sector that has attracted both excitement and skepticism.

While MicroAlgo's news has generated significant market interest, the company has not provided key commercial details. MicroAlgo's financial performance provides some context for its strategic moves. In its April filing, the company reported a 2025 net profit of RMB 127.56 million ($18.15 million), a 143.5% increase year-over-year, on revenue of RMB 422.05 million ($60.05 million). CEO Min Shu described the company as having a solid financial foundation and clear strategic direction. However, the company's annual report also highlights significant risks, including a lack of customer diversification—just three customers accounted for 41.5% of revenue—and the potential impact of China's evolving data-security regulations.

For now, the jump in MLGO's stock appears to be a reaction to the quantum-software headlines rather than evidence of real-world adoption. The key question remains whether MicroAlgo can convert its circuit-design automation into revenue, deals, or partnerships that show up on the books. Until then, the market's enthusiasm may be tempered by the uncertainties surrounding the technology's commercial path.
