Ondas Inc. (NASDAQ:ONDS) saw its stock climb 5.3% on Monday, closing at $6.87, following the announcement of a $6.9 million contract with the Australian Defence Force through distributor HIFraser. The Nasdaq Composite edged down 0.05% to 25,508.07 during the session.
The contract, which covers counter-drone kits designed for single-operator use, propelled Ondas' market capitalization up by approximately $197 million. That gain represents a multiple of 28.5 times the order's value, underscoring the market's enthusiasm for the deal despite its relatively modest size.
According to Ondas, the $6.9 million order accounts for just 1.3% of the company's 2026 revenue target of at least $525 million. However, it represents 3.6% of the projected 2026 revenue for DZYNE Technologies, the defense technology firm Ondas acquired on July 2 for $200 million in cash and nearly 85 million shares. The acquisition boosted Ondas' 2026 revenue forecast to the $525 million minimum.
The counter-drone kits, known as Dronebuster devices, are capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and electronically disrupting drones. Ondas noted that over 3,000 such devices have been deployed globally. The company has already expanded production capacity to meet delivery timelines, with shipments expected to begin shortly.
Chief Executive Eric Brock hailed the contract as "an important validation" of Ondas' strategic direction. The deal builds on a previous multi-million-dollar agreement between DZYNE and HIFraser in September 2025, related to the same DTIM kits under Australia's LAND 156 initiative. It remains unclear whether the $6.9 million is an incremental award or an updated value of the existing contract, as Ondas did not provide further clarification.
Ondas' trading volume surged to 187.25 million shares on Monday, approximately 2.4 times its 65-day average. This marked the fifth consecutive session with volume exceeding 100 million shares. Despite the day's gains, the stock remains 5.4% below its July 10 close and had fallen 10.1% over the prior week. Monday's advance recouped about 46.9% of that recent decline.
Investors should note that the contract size is small relative to Ondas' 2026 revenue guidance, and the company has not yet disclosed the timing of revenue recognition. Additionally, Ondas is scheduled to issue 45 million acquisition shares in January 2027, which could dilute existing shareholders. No investor events are planned for the coming week, leaving the market to assess whether Monday's momentum can be sustained during regular trading.
The broader market context shows mixed performance among defense and drone-related stocks. Red Cat Holdings (NASDAQ:RCAT) gained 1.57%, AeroVironment (NASDAQ:AVAV) rose 0.28%, and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (NASDAQ:KTOS) fell 0.20% on Monday.
