BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) experienced a sharp selloff on Friday, with shares tumbling 7.1% as investors digested a combination of falling Ether prices and renewed concerns over Federal Reserve policy. The stock closed at $23.80, down 7.14%, erasing approximately $1.1 billion in market value. Trading volume reached 51.59 million shares, representing about 8.6% of the company's outstanding shares, according to market data.

The decline brings BitMine's market capitalization to $14.36 billion, a figure that now sits slightly below the company's self-reported gross holdings of $14.9 billion in crypto, cash, marketable securities, and private investments as of August 24. While this comparison offers a rough valuation reference, it does not constitute net asset value, as the reported figure is gross and does not account for liabilities, taxes, or potential liquidity constraints.

Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, ended the day at approximately $2,443, down 2.7%. However, BitMine's stock fell more sharply, illustrating how equity exposure can amplify token price movements. The company's significant Ether position—5.85 million tokens—means that a $100 change in Ether's price translates to a $585 million swing in the value of its holdings, equivalent to about 4.1% of its market capitalization.

The selloff was triggered by broad de-risking across risk assets following remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, who highlighted persistent inflation pressures. Yields on two-year Treasuries climbed 11.8 basis points to 4.348%, and market pricing for a potential rate hike increased, according to the close recap.

BitMine's balance sheet remains heavily concentrated in digital assets. As of August 23, the company held 5,847,611 ETH, along with 210 Bitcoin, $308 million in cash and marketable securities, and interests in private companies such as Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: ORBS). Approximately 87% of its Ether holdings—around 5.07 million ETH—are staked, generating an estimated annualized staking revenue of $330 million, which represents only 2.3% of the company's current market value.

Despite the substantial treasury, BitMine's operating business remains modest relative to its asset base. For the fiscal third quarter, revenue totaled $46.5 million, with 98% derived from staking and validation services. The company reported a net loss of $83.6 million for the quarter. Operating cash flow for the nine months ended May 31 was negative $287.6 million, while financing proceeds reached $12.22 billion, underscoring heavy reliance on capital markets to fund operations.

Analyst coverage is sparse, with only two ratings available on MarketWatch, insufficient to form a reliable consensus. Short interest stands at 8.0%, adding to the stock's volatility. Risks include the concentration in Ether, potential staking withdrawal delays, slashing risks, custody issues, and protocol changes. Additionally, continued equity issuance could dilute per-share exposure.

Investors will be watching Monday's market open at 9:30 EDT for further direction, particularly how BMNR reacts to Ether's weekend performance. The Federal Reserve's meeting scheduled for September 15–16 will be a key catalyst, as any shift in interest rate expectations could significantly impact both crypto valuations and BitMine's stock.
