Cybersecurity heavyweight CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) delivered a standout performance on Thursday, with shares jumping 20.5% to close at $227.96. The surge came after the company posted record quarterly results, highlighted by annual recurring revenue (ARR) climbing 25% year-over-year to $5.84 billion. The market's enthusiastic response underscores growing investor confidence in the company's ability to sustain rapid growth amid an increasingly competitive security landscape.
Strong Quarterly Metrics
For the fiscal second quarter of 2027, CrowdStrike reported total revenue of $1.471 billion, a 26% increase from the same period last year, surpassing the LSEG consensus estimate of $1.44 billion. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.31 per share, beating expectations of $0.29. Net new ARR reached $332.8 million, a remarkable 51% jump from the prior-year quarter, signaling accelerating customer adoption.
Notably, Falcon Flex accounts represented over $2.29 billion of ARR, a 101% surge year-over-year. This indicates that larger customers are making broader platform commitments, a trend that bodes well for future revenue stability and expansion.
Raised Guidance
Management raised its full-year revenue forecast to a range of $5.991 billion to $6.011 billion, up from the previous outlook of $5.91 billion to $5.96 billion. For the third quarter, revenue is expected to be between $1.523 billion and $1.529 billion. This optimistic guidance reflects sustained demand for CrowdStrike's AI-driven security solutions, particularly as enterprises fortify their defenses around AI implementations.
CEO George Kurtz described the quarter as the company's strongest, attributing the uptick in demand to the necessity of safeguarding enterprise AI deployments. Recent disclosures regarding model security have further reinforced the investment thesis, he added.
Cash Flow and Margins
Cash generation also improved significantly. Operating cash flow rose to $530.3 million from $332.8 million in the prior year, while free cash flow increased 33% to $377.4 million, representing a free-cash-flow margin of approximately 26%. GAAP subscription gross margin expanded by one percentage point to 78%, and non-GAAP subscription margin climbed to 81%. The GAAP operating loss narrowed to $33.2 million from $105.5 million, reflecting improved operational efficiency.
Analyst Reactions
Wall Street responded positively, with several firms raising their price targets. Oppenheimer and UBS both lifted their targets to $250, while Morgan Stanley set a new target of $238. These targets imply only 4% to 10% upside from Thursday's closing price, suggesting that much of the good news is already priced in. Shares have nearly doubled so far in 2026, and sustaining the elevated valuation will require continued execution.
Platform Adoption Trends
CrowdStrike reported increased platform adoption, with 51% of customers now using six or more modules. Adoption for seven modules stood at 35%, while 26% of customers are using eight or more modules. This deepening engagement is a key driver of ARR growth and customer retention.
Upcoming Events and Risks
Investors will have opportunities to hear more from management at the Fal.Con briefing scheduled for September 2 at 11:30 PDT, as well as at conferences hosted by Citi and Goldman Sachs on September 10. However, risks remain, including extended sales cycles, intense competition from other security vendors, and potential integration challenges. Stock-based compensation for the quarter totaled $399.0 million, which could weigh on future earnings. Any further deceleration in net new ARR may quickly pressure the stock's multiple.
