BENGALURU, July 23, 2026 – Infosys Limited (NSE:INFY) heads into its first-quarter earnings report on Thursday with its stock lagging the broader Nifty IT index, as analysts flag persistent challenges in organic growth. Since July 16, Infosys shares have fallen 2.8%, while the Nifty IT index declined just 0.6%, widening a performance gap of 2.2 percentage points. The divergence has sharpened investor focus on the underlying strength of the company’s revenue expansion.

Early projections from brokerages point to a solid headline revenue print for the June quarter, but the details reveal a more cautious picture. Analysts estimate Infosys will report quarterly revenue in the range of ₹480.86 billion to ₹486.59 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 13.7% to 14.9%. However, sequential organic growth—a key gauge of underlying demand—is expected to hover around just 0.9% to 1.0%, barely above the flat volumes seen in the previous fiscal year.

The gap between reported and organic growth is largely attributed to acquisition contributions. Two separate projections estimate that recent acquisitions will add between 0.8 and 1.0 percentage points to sequential growth. Another forecast suggests Optimum Healthcare alone could boost annual revenue by 1.2 percentage points. As a result, any upward revision to Infosys’s full-year guidance will need to be carefully parsed to separate the impact of inorganic expansion from genuine demand trends.

Market Context and Peer Performance

Infosys shares closed Wednesday at ₹1,052.10, down 1.99%, while its American depositary receipts in New York fell approximately 1.75% to $10.93. The stock remains roughly 39% below its February high, reflecting persistent pressure on the IT sector. In contrast, peers Tata Consultancy Services (NSE:TCS), HCL Technologies (NSE:HCLTECH), and Wipro (NSE:WIPRO) recorded more modest losses on Wednesday, declining 0.52%, 0.18%, and 0.23%, respectively.

The underperformance comes on the heels of a broad relief rally. Last week, the Nifty IT index surged 4.3%, its largest weekly advance since October 2025. The rally provided a tailwind for most IT stocks, but Infosys failed to keep pace, amplifying scrutiny on its growth trajectory.

Guidance and Management Commentary

Infosys has maintained its constant-currency revenue growth guidance for fiscal 2027 at 1.5% to 3.5%, with an operating margin target of 20% to 22%. Broker estimates place the upper end of that forecast at around 3%, potentially rising to 4% if acquisition benefits are fully realized. However, the company’s own commentary has been cautious. In April, Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka noted that “client spending is guarded, with greater focus on cost optimization engagements as against growth-led transformation programs.”

The cautious tone was echoed by peer results last week. Wipro reported revenue and profit below estimates, while TCS and HCLTech surpassed revenue forecasts. Wipro’s deal wins fell sharply to $3.37 billion from $5 billion, underscoring the uneven demand environment.

What to Watch on Thursday

Results are due after Thursday’s market close, expected around 3:45 p.m. IST, followed by a management conference call at 5:30 p.m. Analysts will be closely watching for commentary on organic growth trends, deal valuations, and demand in the banking sector. An increased guidance may not be enough to satisfy shareholders if it is primarily driven by acquisitions rather than organic improvements.

Risks to the outlook include Brent crude’s surge past $95 per barrel on Wednesday, adding to geopolitical uncertainties. Currency fluctuations, pricing pressure from artificial intelligence adoption, and project delays could also weigh on future performance. For a more favorable scenario, investors would need to see a clearer combination of higher organic growth, stable margins, and a greater number of net-new deal wins.

The week ahead will be pivotal for Infosys as it seeks to reassure the market that its core business is gaining traction, not just its acquisition engine.
