The Oregon-based small modular reactor (SMR) developer revealed that it has deployed AI platforms from Nuclearn, including AtomAssist and NPX, to streamline knowledge management and engineering retrieval processes. According to the company, a proof of concept demonstrated that these tools can cut the time needed to locate relevant engineering information by as much as 80%, a significant efficiency gain for complex nuclear projects.
Chief Technology Officer José Reyes emphasized that these are purpose-built AI tools designed specifically for the nuclear sector, leveraging NuScale's proprietary data rather than relying on public datasets. He assured that safety and quality standards remain unchanged, addressing potential concerns about AI integration in a highly regulated industry.
Trading volume was notably heavy, with over 36.6 million shares changing hands by 14:21 EDT, representing 1.17 times the stock's recent average volume. The shares hit their highest level of the session, reflecting strong investor interest in the potential productivity gains from AI adoption.
